That time I learned a new pose...

Since I started this little blog I have been learning how to be more comfortable with taking pictures of myself. And often times I find myself thinking of this post from Ms. Medine (THE Man Repeller), it is just so silly to make some of those poses and so I always end up with the same pose over and over. But then a few weekends ago on a little Saturday date with Ms. Kaylin, she convinced me to try some new things out and here is the result:

Dress Old Navy, Jean jacket Abercrombie & Fitch (old, ebay find!), Sandals Madewell (old ebay find too!)

And hey what do you know? It turned out kind of cute. But in the moment I actually thought people would think I had some constipation issues that needed to be dealt with immediately...Sometimes it takes someone else to push you out of your little bubble of comfort and try something new! So now I have a new blogger pose to add to my little bag o'tricks. Because let's be honest, left to my own devices I would have posed like this:

Chambray Dreaming...

I have always been a fan of dark dark denim, I find it to be very flattering and easy to dress up or down. So when I started seeing chambray (fancy word for light light denim?) all over I was very hesitant to try it out. But then I saw this little number at J. Crew I knew I had to have it or at least try this whole chambray deal.

J. Crew Keeper Chambray Shirt

But before I rushed out to buy it, I thought I should look into a more affordable way to try out this "trend", so I found this dress ($14!) at Old Navy. Since there are no close Old Navy stores nearby, I always forget about the store, but their online site is amazing and they always have the best deals!
Needless to say I am a light denim convert and can't wait to incorporate more chambray pieces to my wardrobe.

Do you guys "test run" trends before committing/converting to them?

Mexico lindo y querido

Passing on my love for all things Mexican to my little family is one of my favorite things to do. I am so lucky to have married someone that is so interested in my culture (especially the food) and language. We are making it a priority to speak spanish to baby O so that she can be bilingual, and so far she is really excelling in both languages. It is such an experience to watch this little baby absorb everything around her like a little sponge. It melts my heart to hear her sing the traditional songs I grew up singing in Mexico and it makes me feel a little closer to home.
