This and That....

Some of the things I am loving right about now...

1. Paella Valenciana
Add in some cute outdoor lights and a big pitcher of sangria and you've got my definition of a perfect spring afternoon.

2. Fried Egg Flower
The technical term is actually Matilija Poppies or if you are degreed in agriculture like myself you call them Romneya coulteri (actually was google not my bachelors degree that provided me the scientific name). Isn't she a beauty?

3. Country Living
While the husband was out of the country, baby O and I had a "staycation" at our friends house. Their beautiful house and their company always leaves me feeling loved, recharged and happy.

4. Snuggles
Nothing makes me happier than this right here

Flores in my pantalones

Posted on: Thursday, May 16, 2013

"What do you think about floral denim?" I asked the husband
"Why??" Was his one word answer

Ahh men....

I have been thinking about flowers on my pantalones for quite some time after seeing them on some of my blogger crushes like Anna (See Jane) & Julia (Gal Meets Glam) way back in the day. But I just never really made the leap until I found these gems at Old Navy on sale! I loved there subtlety (the flowers are only a shade lighter than the denim) and at that price it didn't hurt to try them on and see if I liked them on myself.

Well, to answer my husband...because who doesn't like a party on your lower half?!!!!
I can't wait to play around with these and style them up with bright tops for a summer night out or maybe even a clash of floral prints (party on the top AND the bottom)

What do you guys think of the printed (floral or other) trend? Something you might try?

Presidio picnics

Posted on: Tuesday, May 14, 2013

San Francisco sunshine + food carts + live DJ + views of the bay & Alcatraz = recipe for an amazing Sunday.

I recently discovered San Francisco's  Off the Grid and I am hooked. What a great way to promote local small businesses and healthy food all in one. Their weekly picnics at the Presidio just started up again for the spring/summer season and if you haven't been then you should free up a Sunday, grab a blanket and some cash and get yourself out there! The live DJ was an added bonus and the husband and I realized that we knew all the songs he was playing because they were what we danced to in high school (Missy Elliot anyone? Remember her?). Which was amazing but also reminded me that my 10 year reunion is coming up (what?! that's a decade ago already???).
We had fresh strawberry lemonade, fresh strawberries, gorditas from Nopalito and people watched like it was nobody's business.

P.S. Did I mention that they had roaming carts selling Mimosa Kits, buckets of beers & mason jars full of Bloody Mary's???

Bright lips

Posted on: Thursday, May 9, 2013

Sometimes all you need to punch up an outfit is a bright lip. One of my go-to's is NARS schiap it is a matte lipstick but it doesn't make my lips feel "cakey" (is that a word?) or dry. It is a very bright shade of pink, but that's what makes it so fun. When the weather is warm and I want to go from casual to date night all I need is this lipstick.  Also, you can't tell in this picture but my pants are also pink/coral....what? As a little kid I never wore pink or actually even liked it, I was more of a hiking boots with dresses kind of girl (it's true, I have the pictures to prove it!). But in the past few years I have been slowly warming up to it and now I even gravitate to the brightest pink shade for my lips. I think that a certain sweet baby of mine has something to do with this....and I am perfectly fine with that.

What are some colors that are new for you guys? Am I the only color convert our there?

You are probably wondering what the title of this post means.....unless you are fluent in Chinese and if so then my respects to you because you are on your way to world dominance. But anyway, if you haven't already googled it (Google translate....check it out!) then I can tell you it means "I miss you" in Chinese. Or at least that's what popped up when I googled it. The husband is gone all the way to the other side of the world, that means that we are approximately 6,273 miles apart. According to the internet that would take 371 hours to drive and the route would include tolls and possibly a ferry. Thank god for Skype, email, iPhones and super fast internet connections! Anyway, even with all of those technological advances there is no replacement for a kiss and a snuggle from my main man. I try not to get overly mushy but it's true...I miss you! 3 more days until we get to reunite like this:
